Deliciously complex, rich and polished, with layers of mocha-scented oak, ripe black cherry, blackberry and spice, offering nuances of cedar, chocolate and vanilla. Finishes with ripe, integrated tannins. (JL)
The 2000 Melbury displays tremendously fragrant aromas of black cherries, currants, licorice, and toasty oak, medium to full body, luscious fruit on the attack, and a slight narrowing in the finish. (RP)
Good full red. Deep aromas of plum and mocha, plus a balsamic cedary quality. Fairly pliant and broad but ultimately a wine of moderate ripeness, flesh and depth. The red fruit flavors offer moderate give. Finishes with slightly herbal, dusty tannins and a touch of dryness. Seems fully mature but there's no rush to drink this. (ST)
This wine opens with gorgeous aromatics, a waft of smoky vanilla and spicy, cherry compote that’s irresistible. It’s also tasty and sweetly plump, with savory cherry and blackberry flavors. On the light side, but polished and refined.
