The 2001 Zinfandel Grist Vineyard’s deep ruby/purple color is followed by dusty aromas of balsam wood, black fruits, and damp forest floor. It possesses beautiful purity, elegance, and for those who complain about high alcohol, a modest (by Turley’s standards) 15% alcohol. Medium-bodied, with a more restrained, measured style than one expects from Turley...(RP)
Bright medium ruby. Primary black fruits and baking spices on the nose; hints at a syrupy sweetness. Densely packed but also sappy and penetrating, with powerful but rather muscular fruit and a firm spine from the iron-rich soil. Rather austere today and not especially fleshy or sweet. Like tasting a barrel sample. Finishes with big, building tannins. (ST)
