Fragrant and delicate, with pretty fruit and floral aromas, matched by ripe, rich cherry, wild berry, plum and raspberry fruit. Keeps its focus, the long finish interspersed with earth and anise flavors.

Good ruby-red. Wild cherry, smoked meat, mushroom and mocha on the nose. Concentrated and fat, with spicy black fruit flavors lifted by suggestions of cranberry and pomegranate and brisk acidity. In a dense, rather muscular style. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent. 89(+?) points

The dense ruby-colored 1999 Pinot Noir Russian River (700 cases) is a blend from such vineyards as Rochioli, Allen, and a handful of others. It spends 11 months in oak, whereas the single vineyard cuvees see 14 months. It exhibits sweet cranberry and cherry fruit, a hint of new oak, crisp acidity, and an elegant, medium-bodied finish.
