Reminiscent of a premier cru from Beaune, the 2001 La Lagune reveals aromas of sweet and sour cherries, cedar, and balsam wood with toasty oak in the background. Medium-bodied, elegant, and refreshing...
Moderately saturated medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice and mint. Juicy, tight, minty and on the lean side, with floral and bitter chocolate flavors. More perfumed than fleshy, but shows good clarity of flavor, and the tannins avoid hardness.
Slightly one-dimensional, with berry and tobacco character and hints of earth. Medium body. Best after 2007.
