The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (a blend of 86.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.7% Merlot, and 4.7% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as tightly knit aromatics consisting of sweet black fruits intermixed with mineral and earth characteristics. Medium-bodied, with softer tannins than its bigger sibling (the Estate Cabernet), it is designed for restaurants seeking a classic Napa Cabernet with immediate appeal, although it is ageworthy. (RP)
Bright ruby-red color. Dusty, slightly rustic aromas of dark berries, maraschino cherry, shoe polish, licorice and leather. At once sweet and cool, with notes of cassis, cola, licorice, menthol, rust and damp earth. Rather brooding young cabernet, finishing with slightly tough tannins and medicinal notes of cassis, licorice and mint. (ST)
