While this elegant Pinot Noir is fashioned to resemble its Burgundian forbears, there is an intensity of fruit that makes its Californian roots well known. Blackberry, dark cherry and plum greet the senses. The fine texture, with enough backbone to stand on its own, reveals an elegant earthiness, hallmark of the Hanzell lineage. Notes of dried herbs, mushrooms and some French oak from Sirugue complete this elaborate 2000 Pinot Noir. Aged 26 months in 32% new and 68% used French barrels made from the white oak of Alliers and Nevers, France.
