Tasting Notes

90 Robert Parker: "My favorite of Calera's four 1992 single-vineyard offerings is the 1992 Jensen Vineyard Pinot Noir. The least herbal and deepest colored of the quartet, this sweet, full-bodied, velvety-textured wine boasts excellent ripeness and intense fruit, an attractive layered quality, an inner-core of succulent fruit, and a heady, lush finish. This is an opulent, delicious, mouthfilling Pinot Noir to be drunk over the next 6-7 years. As the numerical scores indicate there are subtle differences between the four vineyard-designated wines. All are medium to full-bodied, with sound, medium to dark ruby/garnet colors, and various degrees of Pinot's vegetal quality evident in the aromatics. Although Calera has significantly more competition, their wines remain reference points for just how good Pinot Noir can be." (06/95)
