Bella Vigna is Martinelli's selection of several vine parcels from around the Russian River Valley. The grapes undergo a long, cool fermentation on wild yeast before the juice is transferred into barrels to complete the very end of fermentation. The wine is aged on its gross lees in French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. According to Robert Parker: "Admittedly, Martinelli's Jackass Zinfandel is one of California's most famous wines, but readers should not ignore the extraordinary progress they have made with Russian River and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir."
