Generously oaked with noticeable toast notes combine with ripe, spicy and nicely expressive red raspberry and cherry pinot aromas that lead to slighter finer, rounder and sweeter flavors than those of the bigger and more rustic Clos de Vougeot. The finish is long, concentrated and sappy and while this is not a particularly elegant wine, the underlying raw material is impressive. Drink 2010+.
Bright medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, mocha, smoked meat and minerals. Sweet and creamy in the mouth but distinctly cooler than the Chambertin, with bright notes of menthol and minerals. An enticing floral note emerged as the wine opened in the glass. Finishes long, bright and minerally. But less complex than the Chambertin. 90(+?) points
