There are only 175 cases of the 2002 Zinfandel Vineyard 101 (15.4% alcohol). Sweet kirsch liqueur notes intertwined with licorice, sandstone, balsam wood, and spice emerge from this surprisingly elegant, medium to full-bodied 2002. Once again, amazing purity of fruit, a hallmark of this producer, is present. (RP)
Good deep red. Pungent aromas of raspberry and flowers; rather pinot-like. Juicy but slightly diffuse flavors of red berries and spices. Higher in alcohol than the 2001 version (15.4%, vs. 14.7%), but shows a bit less flavor definition. (ST)
Ripe, with high-toned cherry and wild berry fruit flavors supported by firm, chewy tannins. Balanced, with spicy cedar and anise shadings that offer depth and concentration. (JL, Web-2004)
