Tasting Notes

90 points Robert Parker: "The 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape is an opulent, sexy effort with silky tannin, a deep, plum/purple color, and notes of cherry liqueur intermixed with smoke, earth, and herbs. The tannin is nearly hidden by the wine's high levels of fruit, glycerin, and extract. Ripe, heady, and hedonistically-styled, it will drink well over the next 10-14 years." (10/2000) 90 points Stephen Tanzer: "Bright red. Lively red fruit aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Silky and smooth in the mouth; pinot-like flavors of red fruits and brown spices are given shape by an edge of fresh acidity. Finishes with lush, easy tannins. Offers considerable early appeal." (Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb '01)
