One of the finest Pinot Noirs I have tasted from this estate is the spectacular 2003 Pinot Noir East Block. A candidate for California’s Pinot Noir of the vintage, it boasts abundant amounts of raspberries, gamy meat, and flowers in an extraordinarily ethereal bouquet. Intense and medium to full-bodied, with great length, this beauty should be at its peak between 2006-2015.
Fragrant dusty berry, cherry, earth and anise flavors pick up a hint of mineral and sage, with a touch of cedary oak folded in. Gains complexity on the finish, yet turns tannic.
