If Tchelistcheff were still here, he might describe this Cab as an iron fist in a velvet glove. It’s inviting in rich cassis, blueberry and chocolate flavors, with a soft mouthfeel. But the softness is deceptive; this is a big, deeply structured wine.
The reserved, understated, polite 2002 Elevage Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc...has impressive balance, an attractive, cedary perfume offering hints of lavender, bay leaf and red and black currants, medium body, and a moderately endowed, elegant style.
