Managed by Jean-Hubert Delon of Léoville Las Cases, this is without equal in the Medoc appellation. It shows breeding, depth of flavor, beautifully crafted tannins and fine, rich fruit without the overripeness so characteristic of 2003. With its structure, acidity and delicious fruit, this will age as well as any wine from a more classy appellation.
The dark plum/purple-tinged 2003 Potensac is a sleeper of the vintage. Sweet, exotic scents of mincemeat, black currants, cherries, and crushed rocks are followed by an elegant, fleshy, forward, delicious claret to enjoy over the next 5-7 years, although this wine has a tendency to last longer. It is one of the finest Potensacs produced in several years. (RP)
Full red-ruby. Aromas of ripe plum, cedar and tar; superripe without being liqueur-like. Silky, fat and full, with atypical volume for this wine. There's enough healthy (natural) acidity here to give shape and freshness to the wine. Finishes with broad tannins that reach the sides of the mouth. It's hard to imagine a stronger vintage for this chateau.
