Drenched in sweet oak but never less than wonderfully fruity and positively plush in feel, this opulent Pinot Noir also evokes the richness and unconstrained ripeness that are signature traits of this winemaker. There may be those who find this wine too much of a good thing, but it will never be accused of timidity or lacking in substance, and we would welcome it as a partner to rack of lamb or prime rib. *Two Stars*
Firm, rich and concentrated, with a wonderful purity of fruit, built around black cherry, plum and blueberry fruit. Finishes with a dash of cedary oak, but the fruit still holds center stage. (JL)
The 2005 Pinot Noir Russian River (2,100 cases) is a useful introduction to Hobbs’ juicy, fruit-forward, up-front style. Its dark ruby/purple hue is followed by scents of plums, raspberries, white chocolate, and earth. (RP)
Bright red. Fresh, racy raspberry and wild strawberry aromas are very pure. A crisp and incisive midweight with clean red berry flavors, silky texture and a refreshing jolt of brisk acidity on the back end. Showing an elegant side and very easy to drink. (ST)
