(14.6% alcohol): Good full, bright deep red. Sweet aromas of smoke, mocha, graphite, licorice and violet, with a sexy element of yellow flowers emerging with air. Plush, seamless and silky-sweet but still quite young, showing a restrained sweetness to its flavors of pepper, chocolate and dried flowers. Finishes with dusty, sweet, perfectly integrated tannins and lovely slow-building length. Superb, and destined for a long life in bottle. (ST)
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (includes Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot in the blend) spent 20 months in barrels prior to bottling. Dark ruby/purple with a restrained but sweet nose of black currants, plums, damp earth, licorice, and white chocolate, it is an elegant, medium-bodied, opulent effort with sweet tannin and a long finish. This is a strong vintage for Forman’s Cabernet, and it should age nicely for 15 or more years. (RP)
Dusty, cedary oak joins sleek, earthy currant and berry flavors in a tight, elegant style, much like a young Bordeaux. Trim and focused, this is supported by firm tannins and ends with a hint of sage and dried berry. (JL)
