This was the fourth consecutive vintage in which Zinfandel on the York Creek vineyard ripened well beyond table wine style, though quantities of this late-picked wine are less than half those of the preceding several years. Good spring weather, moderate summer temps, and heat in early September ripened the grapes fully by the end of the month. The Race Track block provided the majority of grapes, House Block the rest; these two are home to York Creek's oldest vines. This rich, full-bodied Zinfandel may be the best of the last four vintages.
