In a style that reminds of the sweet, spicy overlay so evident in the Weir Vineyard bottling, this nose is also sweet and rich at first impression. Its ripe, energetic fruit and supple, slightly fleshy palatal impacts take the wine in a plump direction yet it never loses its solid focus on Pinot Noir fruit and holds well in the finish.
Good dark red. Black cherry, rhubarb, spices, tar and pepper on the aromatic nose. Juicy and spicy but not particularly sweet or generous. This seems quite ripe, and finishes with smooth tannins, and yet I found myself wishing for a bit more flavor intensity. Rather oaky. (ST)
