For a large-production sparkler made from an almost 50-50 split of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, a dollop of Pinot Meunier blended in, this is impressive, dry and refreshing in acidity. Flavors of stone fruit, apple and almond linger on the palate, balanced by a distinct layering of fresh-squeezed citrus, from orange to lime. (VB)
The sparkling wines include the N.V. Cuvée 20, which is primarily from Russian River fruit, but the blend, 50% Chardonnay, 49% Pinot Noir and the remaining 1% Pinot Meunier. Crisp and well-made, with notes of wheat thins and frothy small bubbles, this wine seems dry, but fruity and with persistent effervescence and clean, pure citrus-like notes.
