92 points Robert Parker: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford displays more smoke, black currant liqueur, and spice in its intensely deep and profound bouquet. Fuller and richer than its siblings, this broad, savory, silky-textured, full-bodied Cabernet can also be drunk over the next 15+ years. Kudos to Pine Ridge for this impressive trio!" (12/08) Pine Ridge's Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon has been produced since the winery was established in 1978. The 2005 vintage continues the tradition, adding a smidge of merlot from the winery's estate vineyards. The resulting wine shows a distinctive briary nose highlighted by dusty espresso, tobacco and vanilla notes. Elegant and balanced, this medium- to full-bodied wine bursts with juicy cherry and blackberry flavors. Mouthcoating tannins and a long finish with berry and toast flavors tie the wine together neatly. Enjoy now or cellar for 5-10 years. 91 points and a 2008 Tasters' Choice Selection, The Wine News: "Light ruby hue. Complex scents of black cherry, plum and wintergreen with secondary nuances of leather and Earl Grey tea. Juicy flavors of red plum and cherry pie. Velvety tannins and layers of raspberry and Big cherry in the lingering close."
