Officer’s 2006 Zinfandel Sonoma (which comes from multiple sites and is his largest production wine - a whopping 860 cases) exhibits the ripeness of the vintage, with huge blueberry and raspberry fruit notes along with some earth, underbrush, and pepper. The wine has flashy aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and good underlying acidity, but the lushness and intensity will make it quite a stunning wine... (RP)
Deep ruby. Spicy raspberry and candied cherry scents are straightforward and almost pinot-like in their clarity and delicacy. Fresh and juicy on the palate, showing vivid red berry flavors and light tannins. Closes with excellent vivacity and cut. An outstanding value, with surprising elegance and balance for this variety. I'd have easily been fooled into thinking this was an excellent Pinot Noir. (ST)
Zesty, with dark cherry and Asian spice aromas and robust, slightly rustic wild berry, toasty licorice and cracked pepper flavors. (TF)
