I did a tasting of Raymond Usseglio's 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape. It is excellent, but reveals little color saturation, sweetness, and fat, and a compressed texture. (October 1999, 89-91 points: 'Two component parts of this wine were tasted, and both proved to be outstanding. This is a traditionally made, peppery, dried herb, black cherry-scented and flavored wine with full body, heady alcohol, and the vintage's lofty levels of glycerin, extract, and low acidity. The result is a sumptuously-styled wine that can be drunk young or cellared for 10-15 years.')
