K&L Notes

Ridge first started harvesting Zinfandel from York Creek Vineyard, perched atop Spring Mountain, back in 1975, drawn to its gravelly loam soils. The 2006 vintage is aged in a combination of new and used American oak barrels; this is an opulent wine that really packs a punch. With juicy fruit and lots of spice, this complex wine will drink well for the next decade.

It might not be news to anyone, but Ridge is one of the top producers in California, and certainly one of the very best proponents of Zinfandel. The 2006 York Creek is one of the purest that I have had from their fantastic line up, and I need to make room in the cellar to load up on this classic. This has loads and loads of wild black fruit framed by a touch of vanilla from the American oak... Yet it is a dry wine. I think that this will go very well with ribs and pulled pig this summer, and for many, many summers to come. No one in the California wine business has a better track record for ageable zin than Ridge!
    Drink from 2009 to 2019
