Barolo Prapó is a chewy, fruit-driven wine with a broad array of aromas that include black cherry, chocolate powder, creamy vanilla and exotic spice. Cinnamon, clove and ginger all appear in the mouth and are powered by the wine's thick texture and deep concentration. Let it age two or three more years and pair it with roast lamb or pork.
The 2004 Barolo Prapo, from a vineyard in Serralunga, is richer and weightier than the Brunate. This fresh, structured wine is loaded with sweet dark plums and prunes in liqueur, vanilla and sweet toasted oak. It offers outstanding length and finessed tannins that frame its core of dark fruit. It too is made in an international style. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022. (AG)
Pretty aromas of ripe strawberry, flowers and cedar follow through to a full body, with lots of ripe, almost raisiny fruit and a long, velvety, fruity aftertaste. (JS)
