Tasting better than it did in December, 2008, the 2006, which was produced from a small crop, exhibits a dark plum/garnet color as well as sweet, earthy, herbal notes intermixed with hints of sassafras, black cherries, raspberries and spicy underbrush. *** Outstanding *** This is clearly the best wine in the group with superior aromatic depth and layering of the spicy cassis and raspberry liqueur aromas that complement the rich, dense and sappy flavors brimming with dry extract and as much depth on the long and palate staining finish as there was on the nose. About the only nit here is a touch of backend warmth but otherwise, this is really a lovely effort.
Vivid red color. Deeper, brooding cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by mocha and licorice. Chewy dark fruit flavors stain the palate and are framed by dusty tannins. Smoothes out on the broad, sweet finish, with the dark berry note repeating This needs some time. 91+ Points (JR)
