Wonderful balance of fruit with currant and chocolate character. Full body with integrated tannins and a clean finish. Polished and refined.
This attractive deep ruby/plum/purple wine is supple, with notes of loamy soil, earth, underbrush and black and red currants. Very fragrant and medium-bodied, with relatively sweet tannin, this wine should continue to drink well for another 10-15+ years. (RP)
Tasted blind. Looks quite evolved at the rim. Ruby colour. Very mellow, developed Merlot nose. Flattering and forward. Much less obvious tannin than most of these 2005s. Easy, flattering wine for drinking now. A bit simple. (JR)
Bright red with a hint of garnet at the rim. Very fruity, almost Burgundian nose offers aromas of red cherry, fresh blackcurrant, mocha, smoke and Oriental spices. Enters the mouth soft, fruity and suave, with creamy flavors similar to the aromas and a gentle tactile mouthfeel. Finishes soft and very smooth, coming across as surprisingly forward for the vintage and already delicious to drink. Made from one-third each of the three main Medoc varieties, an unusual event for a Left Bank claret. (ID)
Aromatic, with floral, berry and cherry character. Medium-bodied, with coffee bean, lightly toasted oak and currant, berry aftertaste. Little austere. Needs time. Better than previously reviewed. Best after 2009. (Web 2008)
