The 2006 Bandol Rouge from Tempier has a wonderful nose, Burgundian in some ways, with broody blackberry fruit, black olive, a touch of tangerine and red cherry. The palate is very well balanced, fine tannins, good acidity, very pure with nice tension towards the finish. Certainly a more modern, quite feminine Bandol but beautifully executed with great clarity on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2010-2020+ (NM-Wine Journal)
The warm 2006 vintage gave a particularly effusive Bandol at Tempier, its smoky Mourvèdre fruit juicy with blackberry flavors. Pleasantly gritty tannins keep it in line, along with leather and charred meat notes that make it seductively animale. It will show well this summer and for several summers to come. Serve with grilled meats.
Aromas and flavors of mocha, kirsch and dark plum are pure and powerful. A finely crafted red, with a mineral-rich finish loaded with dark chocolate notes. (KM)
