Deep garnet in color, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate leaps from the glass with notes of crushed blackberries, black cherries and Bing cherries with hints of raspberry leaves, bay leaves and underbrush plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, nicely poised, very fresh and beautifully elegant, it has a solid frame of very fine-grained tannins and a very long, berry-laced finish. Still incredibly youthful. (LPB)
Bright medium ruby. Medicinal aromas of cassis, black cherry, crushed stone, graphite, bitter chocolate and herbs. Wonderfully fine-grained but very tight, even a bit herbal and hard-edged today. The wine's strong herb and mint notes may still harmonize with its brisk black fruit flavors. Conveys a strong impression of vinosity and acidity but this very backward 2015 is not a sweet or fleshy style. Finishes edgy and unevolved, with slightly elevated acidity and a firm tannic spine to support an extended life in bottle. (ST) 92+
Magnum. Perfect year. 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc. 28% new French oak. Sweet and harmonious on the nose and then quite chewy on the end. Still quite dry and jagged and youthful at the moment. 17+/20 points
