Vivid red. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, Asian spices and fresh rose, with a nervy mineral underpinning. Lively and sharply focused, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and an exotic floral pastille quality. The finish strongly echoes the red fruit and spice notes and is strikingly persistent. This is already long on personality but I'd give it at least three more years of cellaring. (ST)
A bright Pinot Noir with lush cherry flavors that feel silken and plump, this has a fine glint of acidity in the end. The oak behind it becomes smokier with air, adding to the wine's soft perfume. The rich texture will match duck roasted with cherries.
A beautifully complex and sophisticated wine, showing lush flavors of red cherry pie filling, cranberry tart, Dr. Pepper and cedar. Finishes rich and butterscotchy, but thoroughly dry, with a crisp tang of citrusy acidity.
There may be pricier wines in the Williams Selyem Pinot portfolio, but this deep, incisively varietal effort delivers just about everything that we seek from the grape. Long on sweet-cherry fruit, filled out nicely with creamy, wonderfully complementary oak and absolutely on point in its supple, slightly velvety feel and careful balance, it manages to entice even while young but comes with an abundance of potential for at least three to five years of guaranteed growth. *Two Stars*
