Tasting Notes

Consistently one of our favorite Sauvignon Blancs over the past few years, the 2009 Grey Stack "Rosemary's Block" is gorgeous. Fermented entirely in stainless and aged in a combination of stainless and neutral oak from an Italian clone of Sauvignon Blanc that was discovered near the Slovakian border in 1965. Rosemary's Block is part of Grey Stack's Dry Stack Vineyard in Sonoma's Bennett Valley, a very small and very cool appellation, moreso even than much of the Russian River and Green Valley. Full of tropical pineapple and passion fruit aromas and flavors with round acidity and a clean texture. Drink on the pation on a warm, summer afternoon. 90 points Wine Spectator: "Nicely aromatic, showing finesse, with honeysuckle and jasmine details. Fresh, vibrant tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple and melon flavors all come together, delivering a juicy acidity and smooth texture. Drink now. 700 cases made." (08/10)
