Two compelling Pinot Noirs include the 2008 Pinot Noir Terraces (14.5% alcohol), which exhibits beautiful forest floor, raspberry jam, underbrush, and subtle earth, and a full-bodied, round, multi-layered mouthfeel. This Pinot Noir is in a special place right now and comes from what is considered the best parcel in the Melville Vineyards. There are 435 cases of it. It should drink well for up to a decade. (RP)
Bright ruby. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, licorice and Asian spices, along with a high-pitched floral nuance. Tight and precise on entry, then sweet and expansive, offering pure red and dark berry flavors that are underscored by zesty minerality. Becomes spicier with air and finishes on notes of cinnamon and star anise. This seductive wine is delicious right now. (JR)
*Outstanding* Here the fruit is quite ripe with a compote character that runs to cherry jam with cassis hints as well as notes of menthol and dried flowers. The rich, full and naturally sweet medium weight plus flavors possess ample amounts of dry extract as well as a seductive mouth feel to the mid-palate that changes on the finish to a more robust and powerful quality. This is really quite serious and should reward 4 to 7 years of cellar time.
