Under the same ownership as Lynch-Bages, Les Ormes de Pez offers a family likeness in the richness of this wine. At the same time, dry tannins are very much up front-'firm' is the word to describe this wine, which needs 2-3 years to open up.
Aromatic. Medium intensity. Gentle, mild, well balanced with acid more noticeable than the fine tannins. This should eventually become something pretty charming, I think. 17/20 points. Drink 2015-2025.
Somewhat herbaceous but round and sensual, with sweet cherry and cassis fruit as well as hints of incense and damp earth, this is an up-front, precociously styled St.-Estephe to drink over the next decade.
(a blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 6% cabernet franc) Full ruby. Pure, high-pitched aromas of cassis, black cherry and licorice. Juicy, bright and primary, with slightly elevated acids and a hint of greenness but good stuffing. The tannins are smooth and arrive late. Offers a nice combination of cabernet sauvignon structure and merlot flesh. Seems finer than the 2005.
Currant and sweet tobacco notes follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Pretty and delicious.
