90 points from Wine Spectator: "Intense and pleasantly earthy, this is full-bodied, with dried currant, wild berry, mineral, game and beef notes underneath. Needs a little time, but offers plenty of character and depth. Drink now through 2014. 97 cases made." (Web Only, 2009) 90 points from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Fresh raspberry and cherry on the nose, with complicating notes of brown spices and smoky minerals. Midweight red berry and bitter cherry flavors soften and gain sweetness with air, picking up a suave cola note on the back end. Tangy raspberry and cherry skin notes linger on the long, spicy finish. I'd give this a couple more years to loosen up." (May/Jun '09) From Allen Meadows' Burghound: "A very pretty and extremely pinot nose of relatively high-toned red pinot fruit nuanced by hints of herbal and spice notes that precede nicely detailed, intense and balanced flavors that possess an appealing touch of natural sweetness on the focused, fresh and vibrant finish. This has a bit more phenolic ripeness than either of the next two wines and almost none of the vegetal quality and about the only nit is that there is just a bit of finishing warmth but it really is subtle and certainly not sufficiently noticeable to disturb the underlying sense of balance. This will please those searching for traditionally styled pinot with enough ripeness to avoid the overt herbal character such examples sometimes display." (Jan. 1, 2009)
