This wine is the same wine as that sold under the Ponsot label, except for the paper sticker on the bottle. Oh, and the price--a fraction of that under Ponsot's own label. Such are the joys of share-cropping. From vines planted in 1961. Allen Meadows scores the Ponsot bottling 92-94, writing: "A deeply pitched and fresh nose that is equally reticent speaks of cassis and dark cherry fruit and intensely earthy and stony aromas of underbrush, humus and something I can only describe as just cut tree roots that complements the rich, serious and impressively concentrated big-bodied flavors that are underpinned by a strong mineral streak on the structured and palate staining finish."
