*Cellar Selection* A beautiful wine, dry and classically structured, showing the elegant balance for aging. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s long and deep in blackberries and cassis. Give it a brief decant if you open it now, but it should develop over the next six years, at least.
If sporting a nice nose to start with a good dose of curranty fruit in control, this bottling unfolds with a few moments of air and takes on complexing elements of rich oak, roasted herbs and a bit of forest-floor spice. It begins with a fine, supple entry then tightens and firms in the fashion of a young Cabernet, but it is always balanced and consistent in focus with a sense of wine-making polish that makes us believe that it will improve in the bottle for a good many years.
Deep red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry and cassis, with hints of leather and meat. Juicy, firm and tightly wound, but with noteworthy intensity to its flavors of red and blue fruits complicated by licorice and herbs. Finishes dry and classic, with lingering suggestions of boysenberry, tobacco and iron.
This is an intriguing, old-fashioned Napa Valley cabernet with sweet, velvety, Rutherford-soft tannins. Its red fruit has darker tones of olives, iodine and earth, the sweetness of the finish suited to rare roast beef.
