The 2000 Texier Hermitage is a classic example of the terroir and a superb effort for the vintage. The complex nose soars from the glass in a blend of raspberries, woodsmoke, bacon fat, ground pepper, hot Hermitage stones, black olives and a spicy topnote. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and tangy, with impressive depth at the core, moderate tannins, juicy acids and fine length and grip on the finish. This is a lovely bottle of Hermitage that will drink gorgeously from about 2007 onwards, and should age nicely for twenty years. (Drink between 2007-2025)
