The palate is vibrant on the entry with impressive weight: hints of orange peel and apricot with a tender, almost understated finish. This improves in the glass, gaining more complexity and nuance and yet never quite demonstrating the sheer ambition as the 2009. Yet I notice even within the limited amount of time at my disposal some melioration in the glass, gaining harmony and tension and so I would not hesitate in decanting this very fine Barsac. (NM)
Bright, pale gold. Reticent but pure botrytis-driven aromas of pineapple, fresh apricot, orange, turbinado sugar and vanilla. Rich, suave and very concentrated, with terrific precision and class to the concentrated flavors of stone and citrus fruits, spices and cherry-almond. For all its sweetness and thickness this remains magically light on its feet. Finishes very long and gripping, with a lingering spice character. With 24 hours in the recorked bottle, this wine became juicier rather than thicker and displayed strong lime and coconut qualities. A superb vintage for this property. (ST)
Intensely rich in character, touched lightly by new wood, the acidity crispening the ripe orange and sweet peach skin texture. This is a gorgeous, opulent wine. *Editors' Choice* (RV)
