K&L Notes

Waits-Mast is a super small production, family-owned winery focused on single-vineyard Pinots from California that launched in 2007. This particular wine from them comes from Rich Savoy's vineyard perched at 1,600 feet above Booneville in the Anderson Valley. Star anise, cardamom, clove, coriander and white pepper spices are abundant on the nose, which also has a lovely dried rose petal character. Juicy red cherry fruit on the palate is framed by notes of orange zest and the citrusy qualityies of coriander spice. Well-structured, the tannins and acidity are tightly wound with the fruit right now, but loosen their grip easily with some air. Decant or hold for a year or two for maximum enjoyment.
