Spottswoode approacheds their Sauvignon Blanc like the Bordelais, blending Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Musque and Semillon to create a wine that is much more complex than a lot of California SBs. Much of the fruit comes from the Spottswoode Estate in St. Helena, supplemented by grapes grown at other prestigious vineyards around Napa and Sonoma, including Krupp Brothers, Larkmead, Tofanelli and Hyde. Fermented in a combination of French oak, stainless and concrete "barrels," the wine has wonderful texture and vibrant acidity, enticing with a fleshy orange and stone fruit nose and a palate peppered by minerals and beeswax.
