Tasted at the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Reserve vertical. The nose is very attractive and showing just a little more definition than the 1991 although not the same sense of ripeness or opulence. Touches of mint, a little mushroom and damson, a hint of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied, sinewy with firm, slightly brusque tannins. It does not have the lushness of the 1991, this is more conservative and linear towards the allspice-tinged finish. It has a certain charm. (NM)
(13.5% alcohol; 54% from To Kalon): Dark red. Dark currant, leather and a balsamic quality on the rather rustic nose. Boasts good size and sweetness but the leathery quality carries through to the finish, combining with slightly elevated acidity to give the tannins a dry edge. (ST)
Very dark crimson. - still! Rich. Chocolatey. Velvety. Not unlike a bordeaux 1990. Very sweet start and then very slightly dry tannins on the finish. Not as succulent as the 1991. Dry and dusty on the finish. As though the grapes suffered quite a bit of drought. But good stuff. 18/20 Points (JR)
