The 2009 Pinot Noir San Andreas Fault comes across as quite introverted, yet it boasts considerable energy that needs further bottle age to fully emerge. There is tremendous depth to the fruit in this muscular Pinot. Clean, saline notes frame the highly expressive, vibrant finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. (AG)
Here the nose is slightly riper and a bit more complex as well than the 2010 version with its cool and very pure aromas of plum, violets and dark cherries. There is once again a wonderful sense of underlying tension to the exquisitely well-detailed middle weight flavors that possess a lush yet focused mouth feel, all wrapped in a moderately austere, persistent and solidly complex finish. Lovely and understated but make no mistake, this is built-to-age and in contrast to the Reserve, this is not likely to drink well young.
Full ruby. Smoky dark berry and cola aromas are lifted by notes of white pepper and allspice. Juicy, penetrating and appealingly sweet black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors show very good clarity and cut. Closes with strong spicy thrust, silky tannins and impressive length, leaving bitter cherry and allspice notes behind.
A wine with fresh and bright Pinot Noir character with lemon rind and raspberry undertones. Full body, with fine tannins and a lively finish.
