The 2009 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge is one of the more pointed wines in this lineup. Clean veins of vibrant minerality support expressive dark fruit in this polished wine. Mint, eucalyptus, crushed rocks and licorice are some of nuances that appear on the focused finish. The wine’s inner perfume and sweetness appear with extended aeration. This is a gorgeous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. (AG) 93+
Glass-staining ruby. Powerful, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes cherry and dark berries, with complicating notes of dried flowers and licorice. Weighty but energetic, offering incisive dark fruit flavors that slowly gain energy in the glass. A brighter raspberry note emerges with air and carries through the long, spicy, focused finish. This is made entirely from Swan clones. (ST) 91+
cool, restrained and quite pure nose of rose petal, black cherry, violets and plum introduces sauve, mouth coating and notably rich flavors that possess plenty of dry extract that coats the palate on the delicious and generous finish that also displays a hint of grapiness on the lingering finish. There is a bit more underlying material and the only nit is a hint of backend warmth.
