Good deep ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, violet and sweet new oak, all nicely lifted by a peppery component. Pure dark berry fruit offers a juicy character and very good intensity. A supple, sweet, fruit-driven wine that finishes with substantial ripe tannins and a lingering note of violet. "Pax wine with training wheels," notes Mahle, adding that this cuvee is made from the more forward and less tannic barrels ...
Offers a medley of pepper and wild berry flavors, framed by rich and dense yet supple tannins, finishing with a burst of fruit and ending on a complex tart note. (JL)
There are 600 cases of the 2004 Syrah Cuvee Christine, a selection from various vineyards. Kept 17 months in mostly new French oak, and bottled without fining or filtration (the general practice at Pax), it is a lovely, forward, fruity Syrah offering notes of white chocolate, black currants, smoke, roasted herbs, and licorice.
