This too is just lovely as the subtle complexity slowly reveals itself as the elegantly rendered fruit is awakened in the glass to reveal dark berry fruit, earth and game hints that can also be found on the detailed, intense and naturally sweet flavors that have enough punch to really make a statement, yet the overall effect is one of restraint and understatement. Terrific.
The 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Murgers displays aromas of ripe blackberry fruit, high-toned cherry-almond extract, wood smoke, and roasted meat, richly saturating the palate with a deep, creamy display of fruit and meat. It finishes with an infectious juiciness that does not preclude profound concentration of black fruits, roasted meats and wet stone.
Red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, flowers and chocolate. Fat with creamy, liqueur-like fruit; this has an exotic marzipan character that contributes to its early appeal. But despite its superripeness, there's a medicinal aspect on the back end that suggests this will enjoy a long life in bottle. Very big wine, with sweet tannins.
