This excellent effort is just now beginning to drink beautifully well with its expressive and highly complex nose of cool and fresh green apple aromas that are trimmed by floral and brioche aromas. There is excellent size, weight and punch to the big, rich and sleekly muscled flavors that are notably ripe yet there is a firm acid backbone that maintains outstanding focus on the almost admirably intense mineral-infused finish that goes on and on. For my taste this has just arrived at the front end of its peak drinkability though it should be capable of holding here with no problem for years to come. Excellent.
Good medium bright red. Ineffable aroma of musky strawberry, iron, smoke and dried rose. Silky, full and deep, with a seamless texture and captivating soil tones. As creamy and lush as this is, the dominant impression is one of delicacy and focus. Highly complex, extract-rich flavors of strawberry, minerals, mocha, earth and underbrush. A compelling wine of terroir whose captivating sweetness, fine tannins and superb persistence makes it almost deceptively drinkable today. But this big boy will be around for at least a couple of decades. (ST)
Dark, dense and brooding, with a wild, feral side, but also intense flavors of blackberry, cassis, bacon and sandalwood. There's also a mineral streak and a corps of well-knit tannins. This will require time, but the payback will be worth it. Best from 2015 through 2035. (BS)
Nose is already subtle and complex: perfumed sweet meatiness of (someone else’s) marijuana smoke. Intense fruit on the mid palate. Plenty of oak but well integrated and not dominant. Tannins firm like a bale of silk. Fruit aromas fill the mouth and linger wonderfully. Great Burgundy. 18.5/20 Points (JH)
