The NV Brut Premiere Cuvee is exceptionally polished and refined from the very first taste. Lemon, grapefruit, green pears and flowers are some of the many notes that are woven together in this classy, totally polished wine. The two-plus years of bottle age post-disgorgement are a great example of how first-class NV Champagnes can develop beautifully in bottle, something I have seen time and again with Bruno Paillard’s wines. Hints of hazelnut, almond, crushed rocks and pastry add elements of complexity, yet the wine retains its classic sense of energy and vibrancy. This is a great showing. (AG)
This wine does everything right, from the fine mousse to the tight line of flavor, leaving a clean sense of refreshment that lasts. There's a delicate scent of fennel and chestnut honey, a crisp flavor of Bosc pear, a chalkline of acidity, all coming together to strike a beautiful balance. This is blended with wines from 32 villages, each vinified separately.
Firm and focused, this lively Champagne is finely knit and elegant overall, offering flavors of Gala apple, pickled ginger, blackberry and toasted almond, with a hint of fleur de sel on the finish. (AN)
This is a bold, rich and slightly raw NV that has plenty of red and green apple aromas on the nose with fresh yeasty autolysis; quite elemental. The palate has a boldness, a rawness and an assertive green apple and honey core of flavor that's crisp and succulent.
(85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay, with 6 g/l dosage; lot ZU683P4; disgorged April, 2013): Bright straw. Lively citrus fruit, pear, white flowers and ginger on the spicy nose and in the mouth. Taut and sharply focused, with very good clarity and a refreshing mineral bite on the back half. Quite tensile but not at all hard-edged. Closes tangy and long, with lingering orange pith and white pepper qualities. (JR)
Lemony creamy nose. Tight and sharp and lemony and a wonderful mineral backbone. 10 months disgorged. Structured and overlaid with the lightest of floral white-blossom veil. (TC)
Nearly a year in bottle after disgorgement has given this a toasty character. The acidity and the citrus fruits are still there, but they have been seamlessly integrated into the mature flavors. It's a light style, delicate and elegant. (RV)
