The classic-styled 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits plenty of kirsch, Christmas fruitcake, pepper, spice box, smoked herbs and loads of raspberry and black cherry fruit. It is a full-bodied, slightly more reserved and less exuberant effort than the 2007 was at a similar age. It will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and last for 10-15 years.
Deep ruby. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, bitter cherry, licorice and candied flowers. Becomes smokier with air and picks up a licorice nuance. Fleshy but lively, with strong finishing punch, lingering floral and spice notes and slow-building tannins.
90% Grenache, 10% Syrah. 20,000 bottles. Direct, bright, very ripe cranberry fruit. Suave, velvety texture. Lots of tannin but the fruit almost covers it.
