This is ripe warm and filled with dusty blackberry fruit. The middle is sweet, fat and lush with a long, gentle and plush finish. Delicious now.

Chateau La Fleur is located on the northern plateau of Saint-Emilion, on soils of clay and sand. The estate consists of a mere 6.3 hectares of vineyards planted mostly to Merlot. Since 2002, it has been owned by Laurent Dassault of neighboring Chateau Dassault. The 2009 vintage is 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, two-thirds new. Deeply colored, almost inky purple, with hints of roasted coffee on the nose. Ripe, rich, and round in the mouth with loads of generous black fruits. Warm spice notes with hints of brandied cherries. Tannins are quite fine. Drink now or over the next few years.

If rich, right bank claret is your idea of the perfect steak accompaniment, then kudos to your culinary prowess! This fits the bill wonderfully, with great black fruit, toast, crushed gravel and flowers on the palate. It’s very silky with the soft, plush tannin structure expected from 2009, and great acid to keep it fresh and a great food wine.

Another great 2009 for under $40. So sweet and lush with long finish of blackberry fruit. Ready to drink after an hour decanting. I just love the 2009 Bordeaux wines.
    Drink from 2017 to 2037
