A big and rich blanc de blancs that shows an intense and layered character. Full and powerful Champagne with layers of fruit. It is so vivacious and long. Energetic. From Mesnil, Avize, Chouilly and Crémant. Needs a year or two more to soften.
* Cellar Selection * This is a superb Blanc de Blancs that boasts great minerality, texture and intense fruit flavor. It’s a finely structured wine, now approaching maturity with its apple, citrus and green pear notes. Lingering in the mouth, it is a beautifully long-lasting, pure wine. Drink until 2018 and probably beyond. (RV)
The 2004 Blanc de Blancs is impressive. Brioche, white stone fruits, smoke, chamomile, honey and wild flowers all blossom in a distinctly powerful, muscular Blanc de Blancs. Layers of flavor continue to build as the wine shows off its intense personality. The 2004 is a blend of fruit from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Chouilly. (AG)
Toasted brioche and pastry cream notes are rich and smoky in this elegant Champagne, riding the refined mousse with flavors of white peach and candied kumquat. The spiced finish is ripe and balanced. Drink now through 2025. Web Only-2015 (AN)
100% Chardonnay grapes from Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil sur Oger. Almost a third of the wine was vinified in oak barrel. About two-thirds underwent malolactic fermentation - was this a factor in my finding the wine, substantial enough to be a wine not a champagne, just a little richer than I was expecting in a 2004 all-Chardonnay wine. It goes for power rather than refreshment and refinement but should not disappoint anyone. It strikes me more as a food wine than a racy aperitif.
