Medium red. Pungent aromas of raspberry coulis, griotte cherry and white pepper. Spicy, sappy and intense, with terrific lift and early personality to the flavors of raspberry, spices, earth, tea leaf and iron. This highly complex young Pinot finishes with a firm edge of acidity that calls for a couple years of patience.
The 2011 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles was aged 14 months in 100% new French oak, and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The result is a medium ruby-colored wine displaying lots of strawberry, black cherry and kirsch-like fruit. This pretty, medium-bodied, sexy Pinot should be consumed over the next 3-4 years. This is one of the up-and-coming superstar producers in Northern California. Owned by Luc Morlet, who comes from a French family that has long been making wines in Champagne, and who cut his Napa Valley teeth first for Newton and later Peter Michael. (RP)
